Style

I had a wonderful day in the spectacular five star surroundings of The Grove Hotel County Estate London, styling the beautiful (inside and out) Storm Keating and her son Cooper for this month’s cover of RSVP Magazine.

Photographed by top Irish photographer Lili Forberg in the Potting Shed in the Grove Hotel, London on an unseasonably warm and sunny day in March, I had the pleasure of working with a stellar team including hair creative - the wonderful Sarah O’Brien and make up artist by the super talented Georgios Tsantirakis for Lancome - and the Digital Editor of RSVP Jane Lundon.

How to look your best in Photographs ..

Once a upon a time … less than 40 years ago - getting your photograph taken was something you only did on special occasions - to document your life - such as birthdays, weddings, graduations or a foreign holiday. You certainly did not document every night out, less alone every moment!

Today it is very different.

Having worked in media for over 30 years, I deal everyday with people on both sides of the lens. I hear all too often “I don’t like having my photograph taken”, or “I don’t look good in photographs” - or more recently ”don’t tag me!”.

The good news is that absolutely everyone can look good in photographs - it just takes a little know how, time and self confidence and acceptance that you want to look the best version of yourself - not someone else.

PERSONAL STYLE … and why it matters ?

As we age, finding clothes that suit our changing shape, skin texture and lifestyle can be very challenging!

A solution is to take some time to discover … or perhaps re-visit … your own personal style - your unique fashion personality.

50 things you need to know by 50

I am celebrating a big birthday this year - and it got me thinking about all the things I wish I knew when I was 25 - but learned the hard way - and also some observations I would like to share :}

  1. Resilience. Ultimately inner resilience will see you through life. Unfortunately it can only be acquired by getting up when you fall down. So try to remember that when times are hard, - that by getting up, moving on and not looking back,  you are building the inner strength for longer term happiness.
